Incredible stat shows just how Ten Hag has restored Old Trafford 'fear factor'

Erik ten Hag’s fine work at Manchester United has been borne out with an incredible home record over the last few months.

For the fourth time in the club’s history, the Red Devils have scored two or more goals in fifteen consecutive matches at Old Trafford.

The last time Man United enjoyed such an incredible run of goalscoring at home was between March and October 2000.

It is a testament to the work the manager has done on the training ground, with the latest goal glut coming yesterday against Real Betis in the Europa League.

All four members of Man United’s attacking quartet got on the score sheet.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a thunderous striker into the roof of the net after an incisive breakaway.

Antony unleashing a gorgeous curler in the second half, before a thumping header from Bruno Fernandes made it 3-1.

Wout Weghorst finally scored his first goal at Old Trafford – with his 23rd attempt since joining the club on loan – to wrap up affairs.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, much has been made of the loss of United’s ‘fear factor’ at Old Trafford.

Under Erik ten Hag, that seems to have been restored, with United imperious on their own turf this season.

A 2-1 loss on opening day is the only defeat the Red Devils have suffered at home all season in the Premier League, with the last loss in any competition coming against Real Sociedad back in September.

With United now enjoying a fantastic goalscoring run, Ten Hag will look to use the advantage to catapult the club to further success.

Manchester United are currently in the middle of a take-over and if they were to be brought under Qatari ownership, they could become part of Europe’s most powerful multi-club network.

Qatar Sports Investments have drawn up an ambitious plan which involves the Red Devils, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and Portuguese side Braga according to Portuguese publication Record.

“Record Sport understands that senior QSI executives envisage deploying Braga as a development club for both PSG and United.

Multi-club network

“Elite talents would be signed from European and South American football then moved to Portugal to gain experience in Braga’s first team before being transferred up the multi-club system to the Premier League or Ligue 1.”

QSI already own PSG while back in October, Braga announced the sale of 21.67% of the club to QSI.

If Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani – chairman of the Qatari Islamic Bank and son of the gulf state’s former Prime Minister, wins with his increased bid, the club would become another addition to the group.

There could well be another addition according to the report. QSI chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently revealed his desire to take control of La Liga 2 side Malaga.

The former La Liga side, which is owned by Abdullah Al-Thani, a subsidiary member of Qatar’s ruling family, are in danger of crashing out of La Liga 2 and are under judicial administration.

But QSI are considering bringing Malaga into its broad portfolio of sports investments.

QSI could become powerful than City Football Group

The group has entrusted former Sporting Director of PSG and current Sporting Director of the Qatar Stars League Antero Henriqueto devise a strategy to bring the best out of all Qatari-owned clubs.

If this plan were to succeed, it would far exceed Abu Dhabi’s Manchester United-led City Football Group in reach and financial muscle.

It must be remembered that all three clubs are set to play in the Champions League next season as things stand.

The Glazers still remain undecided regarding selling the club with Sheikh Jassim and British industrialist Sir Jim Ratcliffe both in the race after submitting improved bids.
