Rangers are keen on Keanu Baccus with Michael Beale showing an interest in bringing the St Mirren ace to Ibrox in 2023.

That’s according to The Scottish Sun, who claim that Rangers are tracking Baccus ahead of a potential move.

It’s suggested that new boss Beale sent Rangers scouts to watch Baccus in action ahead of the January window.

Beale wants to bolster his midfield engine room and seems to have picked out Baccus as a target.

The January transfer window is only a few days away now and Australian international Baccus could quickly become a key pursuit for Rangers.

Baccus is contracted to St Mirren until the summer of 2024 but they allegedly won’t stand in his way if he wants to leave.

St Mirren no doubt believe that this is a great chance to bring in a decent fee for a player who has only been at the club for a few months.

Reports from the Daily Record in October suggested that Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town are both interested in Baccus, so Rangers may face a real battle.

Who is Rangers target Keanu Baccus?

Baccus is enjoying a quite remarkable rise.

Born in Durban over in South Africa, Baccus moved to Australia before even turning one as his family moved to Western Sydney.

Baccus joined the Western Sydney Wanderers ranks back in 2014 and worked his way up to become a first-team star.

Baccus racked up over 100 league appearances for the Wanderers before deciding to try his luck in Europe.

St Mirren secured what now looks like a huge coup by securing Baccus to a two-year contract earlier this year.

Now producing all-action displays in Scotland, Baccus landed a spot in the Australia World Cup squad and impressed in Qatar.

Former Rangers ace Craig Moore hailed Baccus as ‘unbelievable’ for Australia against Denmark and interest is mounting.

Rangers are unsurprisingly impressed with Baccus and he could bring some much-needed energy to the Gers midfield.
