The World Cup is now over but Qatar will serve as the perfect scouting pool ahead of the January transfer window and here are three players Rangers should consider to bring to Ibrox, that came to light during the winter tournament:

Three players Rangers should consider to bring to Ibrox

Harry Souttar (Australia and Stoke)

Australia defied the odds and made it into the last 16 in a group that contained finalists France, an impressive Tunisia and Denmark – who were deemed a dark horse by many. Souttar was crucial to their campaign, starring at centre-back.

The Aberdeen-born defender was superb. Especially, in the win over Tunisia. Striker Mitchell Duke got the award, but Souttar was the real hero. Currently at Stoke where he has a contract until 2025, he is of course, John Souttar’s brother.

Riley McGree (Australia and Middlesbrough)

Back in 2020, ex-Rangers defender Craig Moore claimed he tried to convince Rangers to sign McGree. The midfielder started all four of Australia’s World Cup matches and was a bundle of energy, playing in different positions.

He played out wide, as a central midfielder, a 10 and even as a second striker. Now linked with Celtic, McGree would be ideal for the Rangers midfield. Injecting some much-needed energy into Michael Beale’s side if signed in January.

Bruno Petkovic (Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb)

Rangers need to consider bringing in a new striker. Antonio Colak is scoring goals, but offers little in terms of link-up play. Alfredo Morelos remains out of contract at the end of the season. So, why not Borna Barisic’s Croatia teammate?

The 28-year-old score against Brazil in a match that saw Croatia knock Tite’s side out on penalties. He has 12 goals in 27 games this term, but his contract ends in 2024. Rangers have dealt in Croatia before, and this would make sense.
